42ND STREET/THESIS, 2013-2014 On display until June 1st at 39 Below
42nd Street is a photography exhibition that is inspired by the grindhouse movie era. This name is derived from the 42nd Street of Manhattan, known for its grindhouse theatres and burlesque shows. Renovated in the 1990’s, this street is now home to many legitimate theaters and more mainstream movie theaters. This exhibition is a modern view of this unusual and often graphic subject matter. It is also an exploration of the art storytelling and what entertainment means for our culture.
